When I was very young -- about 3 or 4 years old -- I had a favourite book, as you do. It was a Little Golden Book mum would read to me every night, in which Jean-Tom and his friend Robespierre would search Paris for the missing Mewsette, Jean-Tom's girlfriend. The drawings in the book were stylized and unusual and fascinated me. They always found her by the last page, but I was worried they would miss her. Then we moved from Hurstville to Queanbeyan, and my well-read and falling-apart book vanished. I never saw it again.
Today, my DVD of Gay Purree arrived from Amazon. It's only taken 44 years to replace my book.
