Kerbal Space Program
I'm enjoying the latest version of KSP - "v0.90 Beta Than Ever"

It's getting away from the sandbox game and becoming an actual game, with contracts, science, reputations, Kerbalnaut training, and more challenges.

I have to get back into this one. I haven't played it for a long time.

The new version has a complete Kerbol system (7 planets plus moons) and asteroids.

There are contracts to take ("Place a satellite in a specific orbit" etc) that earn funds, which let you upgrade the space centre, which lets you launch heavier rockets.

Kerbals get trained and advance their skills, and the Kerbals have different skills - pilot, engineer, scientist.

It's becoming a proper game.

I'll have to get around to installing that... I've got the zip file downloaded, I just need to boot into windows and unpack.

The free version doesn't have all the nice features - you have to pay for the latest. On the other hand, it's one of the cheapest non-Steam games out there at <AU$30

Let's hope it develops into something with a brighter future than poor Skyrates has. A shame the enthusiasm for that game has dwindled - they could have developed a smartphone app for it.

I wonder if Kerbals will ever hit either the box or the big screen...?

There were many things they could have done with Skyrates, but it seems to be destined to remain a good uni student project and not develop from there.

It's funny, one of my other friends (a local to my region) has recently gotten back into KSP, and says he loves what has been developed since last he played with it, too.
