782 Private (Pte) John Donald Gordon Whitton, C Company, 30th Battalion


Enlisted 1915. Killed in Fromelles, July 1916. His body was not found.

In 2007, burial pits containing the remains of unidentified soldiers were found.

In May 2014, his remains were identified, and he will be buried under his own name.

Interesting. In this photo he looks more like a "Ken" doll than a real person. I wish my uncle could have been recovered from the Enoura Maru disaster in Taiwan during WWII. At this point there are no remains.
