I'm sorry. To think this is just spring time ...

It's going to be a bad summer.

Two words that strike mortal terror into the heart of a foxaroo.

The place whey're you're staying in Sydney, is it anywhere in proximity to reserve or bushland?

I am on the Sydney side of the Hawksbury, so the mountain fires won't reach here. There is some bush around South Windsor and Castlereigh, and this has already burned so it's not a problem. I'm pretty safe here.

These are perilous times. I'm hoping people can stay safe.

Wow I heard it was bad out there but just wow

Whew, yeah, that's California and Arizona scale fires out there. Hopefully this is part of a normal fire & flood cycle.

Problem we had in California (and other states, rallowing huge amounts of debris to stack up, which fueled the mega-fires that burned much hotter than they would have otherwise.

The Australian bush is made for bushfires, so National Parks have to do hazard reduction burns every year. For the last few year the state government has defunded this as a cost cutting measure. And now we see the result.

The phrase "penny-wise and pound-foolish" comes to mind... as it's been doing here a lot of late as well.
