Around The World In 80 Beers Episode 102: Montheith's Black
Something familiar and imported, but it's from New Zealand so it isn't that imported.

Monteith's Black

Pours a very dark, opaque brown, almost black. Smallish tan head that fades away.

First sip: Mild, roasted malts, faint dark chocolate and coffee with a little hops bitterness. Slight carbonation tingle on the tongue. Mouth feel is creamy, smooth and a little thin. Nice malty after-taste. The over-all taste improves as the beer warms from "Icey" to "Chilled", but doesn't get better beyond "Cold."

I have been drinking this beer regularly for over ten years now, ever since my trip to New Zealand in 2000 - which reminds me; I need to scan and post more of my trip photos. This beer is my beer of choice when I want something a little heavier than lager, but lighter than a stout. This is a very nice beer.

I very much like Monteith's. One of my favourite memories of NZ, actually. Wish it were imported here. *G*

I also like their Summer Ale.I have fond memories of eating green-lipped mussel morney and washing it down with Black or Summer ales,
