It is confirmed; my CT200h needs a new fuel suction pump cover. Replacement day TBA.

Doh!

Presumably the car is fine to drive until then?

Mako

The fuel pump is in the tank, so if it leaks it leaks back into the tank and not into the engine bay.

This might explain why my fuel economy has degraded - the sensor is measuring the fuel pumped and not taking into account the fuel not actually making it to the engine.

Hmms odd, fuel consumption is directly related to the fuel injector pulse width which in turn is (once the engine is fully warm) controlled by the oxygen sensor input to the FI computer and some fancy math regarding throttle position, intake air temp and other mechanical minutia.

Bottom line is I'm not all that confident mileage degradation is due to a leaky fuel pickup cover. That said, Priuseseseses and their kin are strange beasties and I'm no Mr. Scott.

Keep us informed if you please :)

My car is TOTALLY NOT A PRIUS!

It just has a Prius drive system.
