On Sunday I visited the Powerhouse Museum of Science and Technology

Engine No.1 This is one of the first four engines used by the Sydney Rail Company in 1855 (No.3 pulled the first train.) In 1855 the first class ticket to Parramatta was 3 shillings: the equivalent of $60 today. The trip took most of the day. Now, it costs $5 and takes 40 minutes.

I remember the Lost in Space robot being part of the power house museum back in the 80's when the museum itself was tiny compared with its modern sprawling complex.

AND I remember the Central station destination board when it was part of Central station. It's a pity that nobody saved the animated neon advertisements that were also part of the station at one time (at least Sharpies Golf neon sign lives on).

I take it that the monoral wasn't yet on display?

No sign of the monorail.

Keep that up and folks will wonder just how long your grey beard is :P

Mako (Who remembers seeing those Saturn 5 engines on TV way back when.)

No point in denying my age. I know I'm too old to lick up chicks from the local bar (not that I ever would have when I was young enough).

Also there's some prestige in the fandom for being known as a greymuzzle.

You Sir, had a Most Excellent day out! Thanks a bunch for sharing it with us.

Cheers!
Mako

I didn't even get to the bit that lets you do hands-on SCIENCE.

How on earth did you contain the nerdgasms?

With great difficulty.

At closing time the guard had to ask me to leave 3 times, because I took so long walking to the Way Out.
